Overview

The world’s 5th highest mountain it called Mt. Makalu is located at the altitude of 8,463 meters. It is a dream of every mountaineer, situated in the heart of eastern Himalayas whereas just about 14 miles east of Mt. Everest. ‘Makalu’ means the ‘Great Black One’ and it is called so due to its dark brooding appearance. The first attempt on Mt. Makalu was in 1954 by a US team from California, who trekked all the way from the Indian border near Biratnagar.

Mt. Makalu Expedition is very adventurous route to climb but a little bit dangerous as well. So we support you by a highly experienced mountaineers and guides. It has steep pitches and knife-edged ridges. Its takes into account surrounding vast valleys like Arun and Barun, contains some of the richest and much diverse flora and fauna of Nepal. Diverse ethnic communities of Rai, Sherpa and Bhotia have inhibited the lower parts of these valleys. Makalu expedition includes acclimatization and nature tour of the Makalu Barun National Park too.

As you get to the Everest base camp, a route will be established by the help of ropes and ladders and our Sherpa’s will be carrying loads of equipment up the mountain.

We will be pleased very much if we get a full understanding of your body's response to altitude and will help you to know the Himalayan conditions before setting you up for an Everest expedition. Therefore, we recommend you to join our preparatory programs of mountaineering.

Detail Information

  • Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by our office representatives at the Airport and transferred to your Hotel. After fresh up, hang around near places. In the evening, there will be briefing by your guide. Overnight at hotel. (Meals: Welcome Drinks)
  • Day 2: Rest & prepare for destination
  • Day 3: Fly to Tumlingtar & drive Num. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 4: Num to Seduwa (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 5: Seduwa to Tashigaun (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 6: Tashigaun to Khongma La (Danda) (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 7: Khongmadanda to Mumfuk (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 8: Mumfuk to Yangle Kharak (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 9: Yangle Khark to Merak (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 10: Merak to Sersung (One day rest) for acclimatize. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 11: Sersung to Makalu Base camp. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 12-40: Climbing Period for Makalu (8463m). (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 41: Makalu BC to Mumbuck. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 42: Mumbuck to Khongma La (Danda). (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 43: Khongma La to Seduwa. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 44: Seduwa to Chichila. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 45: Chichila to Tumlingtar. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Day 46: Fly to Kathmandu & transfer to hotel. (Meals: Breakfast)
  • Day 47: Final Departure. (Meals: Breakfast)
